We shed over 10,000 pounds for Chris' birthday!!!

I meant we shed over 10,000 DOLLARS of debt & it feels ooh so GOOOOD!
Meet my (Brant) new little commuter vehicle. We are thinking of calling him either "White Jack Rabbit" (in memory of the "Blue Bunny") or the "Little Dave" (because Dave Ramsey was our inspiration). Let us know your thoughts.

He has a few miles (160k) but there are no leaks and the engine/tranny is sound! Hey, it's better than the one we saw with 300K miles ;) The previous owner looked back as we were driving away and I'm sure I saw a little tear in his eye (that's the sign of a good previous owner). He even gave us the oil and oil filter he was planning on using in 300 miles.

It's not quite like my last truck, it doesn't have the same towing power, but at least the doors open and close with ease and the windows can be rolled up/down! We hope to be able to make some good memories with this truck and that it will remain as reliable as we think it will.

This is what happens when you work with the youth

Brant was not happy. His parents were visiting from out of town & helped clean it up before heading out to UNT for Lydia's graduation.
This was bound to happen with both of us in there. I think it's funny. Brant does not, which I respect.
So what do you think about teepeeing; vandalism or just plain fun?

Old Memory Relived Today!

I have vivid childhood memories of Paradise Bakery's sugar cookies. Whenever my family went to the mall we always stopped to get one. Paradise Bakery's are harder to find now & as an adult, I don't go to the mall as often. Just for kicks, my fingers performed a Google search for the recipe. To my amazement one popped up! My heart leaped for joy. I pulled out all the ingredients & baked them up. These cookies are very similar. Mmmmn gotta go, another cookie is calling my name.

Nothing Like Christmas Spirit

We actually got the tree out last weekend but didn't even fluff it out. I enjoyed Thanksgiving too much to let it go. This past Thursday I went to a Relief Society Christmas party & it filled my soul with Christmas spirit. I guess it rubbed off on Brant too. We decorated the house & started putting up lights outside.
I love this time of year when we all focus on giving, loving & the miracle of our Savior's birth!
Enjoy the music & some pictures from our weekend.

My day ...

Be warned my day was random:

  • Become depressed with the gift mother nature gave me this morning. Another month without child, humpf.
  • Advil gel caps took way too long to kick in this morning.
  • Cheered myself up. Seriously I'm fine now, promise.
  • Put dinner in the crock-pot & set the timer
  • Hit the local roads for work
  • Witnessed a beautiful fall day. The trees along the highway blew leaves in the air beautifully. It was peaceful.
  • Had a successful day at work. Many happy faces & productive conversations along with referrals.
  • Listened to most of a Dave Ramsey book while driving from client to client today.
  • Was grateful dinner was already cooked & did not have to buy anything (Dave would have been proud)
  • Ate a filling dinner with Brant
  • Packed lunch for tomorrow
  • Cleaned all dishes
  • Relaxed on the computer
What started off as a bad day really turned into a great one! It was wonderful :)

Mayor of Hoover City (Texas)

I fell in love with this painting at the DMA. -Olin Travis, Mayor of Hoover City (Texas), 1929, oil on canvas
The emotion is amazing. Look closely at the evidence of hard work in determination. There is quite the contrast between the makeshift homes & the Dallas skyline in the background. Love It!!!

Top 10 ways to celebrate in "Big D"

Our laptop fried so we got to do an anniversary staycation in order to pay cash for a new one.
Top 10 ways to celebrate 10 years in "Big D"
10.) Watching a car burn to the ground while sitting in rush hour traffic (okay it wasn't quite to the ground yet but it was getting there!
9.) Using Marriott points to get a $400 a night room downtown
8.) Shopping
7.) Eating lunch at the Angry Dog
6.) Exploring the Dallas Museum of Art for hours
5.) Crying on set with Oprah
4.) Experiencing an earthquake in Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum
3.) Throwing popcorn at actors during a dinner theater
2.) Eating dinner at the same restaurant you celebrated your fresh engagement 10 years ago
1.) Admired the beautiful fall evening skyline on the rooftop of a 31 story building.

(Wished we had our swimsuits to go swimming on the roof. The pool was heated ... another time)

I'll NEVER Leave You Again!!!!

They're back!!!
After a terrible sabbatical my eyelashes are back. Just look at them after a long day at work. They've remained fabulously curled, mascara intact & no residue raccoon eyes. Even with humidity!
I left my favorite brand to something far inferior. I thought that since it had a Christmas tree sized brush it would be the same as my favorite brand. After a few hours my eyelashes would go flat & look bare. After a few months, I said "Enough's Enough."
I ran as fast as I could to the nearest ULTA to buy a tube, of "Lash Injection" by "Too Faced" cosmetics, & whalah!
I'll never leave you again Lash Injection!!!!!!

Projects is our middle name AGAIN

I woke up Saturday morning early & remembered that it was going to start raining again for a week. Soooo I got this bright idea to go to our favorite nursery & plant some fresh fall vegetation before the 1st drop of rain. Excitement filled my heart so I woke Brant to share my idea. We'd be extremely tight on time with all the festivities planned for our Saturday but I was determined to make this happen. I must have sold my plan well because he was dressed & ready faster than I could blink. We planted & transplanted shrubs & flowers. Then went inside to get ready for the next adventure when a couple rain drops hit the ground. Yeah, we made it!
Bonus: I beat Brant in bowling at his company party. No, it's wasn't wii bowling either.
Happy Fall Everyone!
